FFA Alumni Affiliates can assist local FFA Chapters in promoting National FFA Week which is the week of February 18- 25, 2006. This week does fall the same week as the Junior National Livestock Show in Perry, Ga. so several chapters celebrate FFA Week in their local communities the week before or the week after in Georgia. There is also an award program to recognize local Georgia FFA Chapters which do an excellent job of promoting National FFA Week.

Possible ways that Alumni can assist you and your students during FFA week could be:

* Alumni can cook and bring in breakfast or afternoon refreshments for teachers for an Teacher's Appreciation Day. Providing some great home made refreshments for a faculty meeting that week and having your FFA Alumni serve the refreshments and FFA President speak to the faculty would be great way to show appreciation to the faculty and staff.

*Alumni can purchase promotional items from National FFA such as notepads, pens and t-shirts for students to use in promoting FFA Week.

*Alumni can be in charge of purchasing an FFA Week billboard ad from Nationals and make the arrangements to have it installed locally.

*Alumni can provide transportation for local FFA office team and make the arrangements for them to visit local mayor to have the proclamation signed.

*Alumni can assist with putting together several articles for local newspaper on the FFA program and make the contacts with the newspaper to get them published.

*Alumni can assist with preparing FFA officers to do a radio spot and providing the transportation to the radio station.

*Alumni can assist with developing several trifold displays on FFA program that can be put up at banks or other locations around town.

*Alumni can assist with mailing thank you letters from chapter to local sponsors and supporters.

*Alumni can make the contacts and help prepare your officer team to do several presentations to local groups such as the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Livestock Association and local Farm Bureau directors' meeting. Some might be able to assist in developing a powerpoint presentation and practicing the presentation with students.
